Pompoms, Glitter & Dogeared Postcards in Abundance

Born in the Channel Islands, I grew up gazing out to sea and daydreaming of glamour and adventure. As a teenager, I was often surrounded by the detritus of glitter, colouring pencils and my favourite ads and articles torn out of magazines. It was evident that I was happiest whilst writing and creating through whatever medium was available to me.

Half French, a love of literature & foreign cultures led to my choice of studying languages at degree level. After four years of travel and study, I graduated from Durham University with a BA in Modern Languages in 2013, followed by a Marketing Degree from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The path to working as a creative is not always easy but I wanted it enough and worked hard to make it happen. I landed my first paid article in 2013 as a Fashion & Style Writer and have now racked up several years experience in Content & Consumer Marketing.

I LOVE to paint and have gained a bit of recognition painting pubs and hospitality hotspots – follow me @guernseypubs or @lavalisedelouise on Instagram for more details.

This blog (est. 2012) was where my creative journey to become a writer all began. It aims to trace the places I go, the things I see, the people I meet and the times in which I live. Sometimes neglected, never forgotten about!

You’re more than welcome to come along for the ride –  please feel free to leave me comments.

  1. Hey Louise! Thanks for following my blog. Yours seems interesting so far and looks great (I love the theme!) French and German is a rather unusual combination I think. 🙂 I just picked up French .. It’s pretty hard so far. Luckily the French usually switch to German or English when I am in France and they notice I am a beginner. 😉 at least I give it a try. Anyway, I am looking forward to reading about your adventures. France is a lovely country and I am always looking for new places to go to there. Greetings from the other side 🙂

    1. Hi Suze 🙂 Thanks for your interest in my adventures! 😉 I’m sure you’ll succeed in your French studies! Germany is a lovely country as well – I spent six months living on the Bodensee which was amazing. Can’t wait to go back there and explore some more ^__^ ‘adventure is out there’ ! (as they say in ‘up!) look forward to reading more of your blog 🙂

  2. Thank you for following my blog (about a month ago….I’m hopelessly behind.) You have a wonderful blog here. Love the name!

  3. Thanks for following my blog. Your photos are great, and I’ve enjoyed looking at your travels through Paris and London so far (still need to scroll through your older posts. Good to meet you here.

  4. Hello, Somehow you found the blog where I write about photography. It it nice to be in contact with you and I look forward to getting to know you as I wander thru your blog’s pictures and writing. Hmmm…. do I need to worry about a person that writes she is, ” leaving a trail of glitter and chaos behind me.”

  5. Hi Louise, great to meet you here and I’m looking forward to reading your blog, thank you for following mine.
Have a good week and my best regards to you, James 🙂

  6. Researching family and Guernsey histories and trying to locate a picture of a Queripel in a gansey, I stumbled across your blog. Very much enjoyed this, thank you!

      1. Far from local… I’ve sadly never been to Guernsey (nor met a Queripel I did not give the name to). I’ll definitely be reading more of your work, hoping to learn cultural tidbits along the way. Thank you!
